DIFFERRENT HAIR TRENDS & WHAT THEY ARE

So you have decided to go in for a hair transformation which is super exciting. There are a few buzz words out there such as Balayage, Ombre, Root Stretch, Color Melts, Foils, Greige look and so many more. It can get a little overwhelming, so how do you know what is best and which should you choose?

A good starting point is to look at some pictures on Instagram, Pinterest and google. Save a few and then take it to your stylist to discuss which would be the best for you. Here is a brief description of what the various trends and techniques are out there for you to consider.

OMBRE

Ombre comes from a french word meaning shaded or shading. Ombre hair color is generally darker at the roots through the mid-shaft and then gradually gets lighter from the mid-shaft to the ends. The transitions are blended and seamless, defined on a vertically panels. So dark roots transition into a lighter shade along the mid shaft and then the lightest at the ends.

The end look is a more defined and the transitions are more solid. Ombre is great if you are wanting to play with bright ends such as blue, reds, green etc.

Maintenance appointments 10 to 12 weeks. Toner refresh every 4 to 6 weeks to keep it looking fresh.

BALAYAGE

Balayage is a french word which means “to paint” . It is a soft sun kissed look from roots to end. Your stylist is able to hand paint soft pieces of colour from roots to ends. The foils and colour placement can be placed in different areas.

In a balayage, face framing foils can be placed around the face to create a unique look. How close to the roots foils are placed and how heavily saturated the ends are will depend on the end look you are after.

Balayage is great if you are wanting customised look of highlights without harsh lines. It is also great for brunettes that are looking for a natural looking blonde do.

Maintenance appointments 10 to 12 weeks. Toner refresh every 4 to 6 weeks, to keep it looking fresh.

COLOR MELT

Color melting is a technique where highlights are are blended with your base colour. The colours in your hair blend together so flawlessly that you wouldn’t  be able to tell where one hair color ends and another begins. There are no harsh lines.

Whether you’re getting highlights, lowlights or a new pastel hair color, color melt hair is all about that flawless melted effect. Multiple shades are used in color melt hair to create the smooth transition. the result is absolutely gorgeous and one that makes any hair color look like it could’ve happened naturally – even with purple hair.

Maintenance appointments every 3 months

ROOT SHADOW

Root Shadow a technique where you either embrace your natural roots shinning through the hair color or deepen the roots any colour you like to create an edgy look. The possibilities are endless. Dark roots blended with Red or purple ends, Big Bright and Bold with blondes or Soft pastels with blondes so many possibilities. Go as wild and bold or stay soft and subtle.
Maintenance is med, every 6 to 8 weeks depends how different to natural base you go.

GRIEGE

The latest trend “Greige” ( Read grey+ beige= greige). Beige and grey are colors that you can always rely on. Its neutral, flattering and have a cool feel to it.This cool ashy tone works well for both warm and cool skin tone. It creates dynamic blends whether you want to keep it sandy beige with bits of grey or want a ash grey with rich strokes of biscuit blonde.
Maintenance low every 10 to 12 weeks.

FULL HEAD FOILS

Full head foils are evergreen and will never go out of fashion. Foils are packed in close together to achieve a beautiful clean blonde. Depending on the desired end result foil placements are customised to suit individual results.
Maintenance appointments required every 6 to 8 weeks.

    I definetley love all of them but pernally i like the Balayage look, ive always had black hair and would like to go lighter also my hair is medium length and hope it would be able to look that good.

    Well there’s so many hair styles to choose from my favourite at the moment is the ombre look and the griege have never gotten that done before and it would be nice to try something new xo
